Fort Fortitude

Fort Fortitude is a small, historic park in the village, across Main Street from the Library. It was created to honor Bethel’s original Fort Fortitude, a 1780s-era fort built by white settlers for defense. The location of the original fort is not known exactly, but was likely somewhere closer to the current Babes Bar. Today, there is a flagpole and granite monument in the park.
