Walkability & Accessibility on Bethel Streets

  • Bethel Town Hall 134 S. Main Street Bethel, VT, 05032 United States (map)

Elevated or expanded sidewalks. Accessible parking. Sidewalk maintenance and replacement funds. Bus stop shelters. Benches, bike racks and street trees. There are many on the table for making Bethel village streets more walkable and accessible. Now it’s time to make a plan.

Join Kelly Stoddard-Poor of AARP Vermont to hear top recommendations from Bethel’s walk audit, and DuBois & King to see preliminary streetscape redesigns. Share your input on priority ideas for making our village more accessible to all.

Join Live or Via Zoom:

  • Attend in person at the Bethel Town Hall (conference room, lower level), 134 South Main Street

  • Join remotely via Zoom:

Accessibility:

  • The Bethel Town Hall is wheelchair accessible. Enter by the front door for the first floor conference room.

  • We will provide automatic captioning in the Zoom meeting.

  • Do you need assistance or additional accommodations? If so, please email ncyr@vtc.edu and we will do our best to make arrangements.

We need diverse voices at the table!

As we consider and prioritize project ideas, we need diverse people and voices at the table. With help from a state grant, we can offer $50 stipends per meeting attended for any community members who identify as BIPOC, refugees and English language learners, LGBTQ+, people who are unhoused, people living with disabilities, and people who have low incomes.

If you identify with one or more of those groups and would like to receive a stipend for joining this meeting (or others), you can confidentially reach out to Sarah Wraight at Two River-Ottauquechee Regional Commission. Email swraight@trorc.org or call 802-457-3188 x3007.

Host: Bethel for All. This event is one of four accessibility forums organized by Bethel for All —a community-driven planning process making Bethel, Vermont a more connected, vibrant, welcoming and accessible place for all. Join us for the other three forums to learn about creating accessible public spaces and services, active and safer streets, and cleaner watersheds. Bethel for All is a Vermont Better Connections project. bethelforall.org
